Jackie Forbes was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She had one brother, Edward. Her father was in the Marine Corps while her mother was a stay-at-home mom to her two children.
After graduating from Maury High School, she worked in administration for Norfolk Public Schools in testing and facilitating special projects. After 19 years, she was asked to start the library at Easton Preschool, which focused on meeting the unique educational challenges of special needs children. She is especially proud of and considers it an honor that it has evolved into a fully functional library. After 45 years, she retired from Norfolk Public Schools/Easton Preschool as the librarian and continued to volunteer at the school afterward, well into her 80s. She is a beloved member of the Easton Preschool family.
Ms. Jackie was married for 56 years to the love of her life and has four children, 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild with another on the way!
Playing the piano, singing in the choir, participating in a bowling league, and playing bridge are all hobbies that she enjoys. She currently aspires to write a book on taking care of elderly/hospitalized persons.
Throughout the years, Jackie Forbes has touched the lives of many—students, co-workers, friends, and family alike. She has been passionate about her career and making a difference in the lives of others.
