Mr. Gerald CorriveauMr. Gerald Corriveau was born with cerebral palsy in 1950. While his condition made everyday activities a challenge to perform, he was determined not to let cerebral palsy control his daily routine. Physical therapy helped him gain strength and feeling in his arms, hands, and legs. It taught him that fitness is a daily activity/routine. He has overcome the challenge of the public staring at him as a disabled senior citizen. He can communicate his wants and needs with each person he encounters. He works to educate others and give them ideas and suggestions to make residing together more “normal” and inclusive.

Mr. Corriveau is one of the most unique and active residents of Sentara Care and Rehabilitation Center. He shares ideas and promotes social acceptance to all residents. He makes daily life at the center more fun-filled and pleasurable for not only his peers but staff members as well. He is a true example of why healthcare professionals at the facility enjoy caring for others each day.
