Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of March 4, 2024.

• 3/4—Met with Sen. Todd Pillion (R-Abingdon) about VHCA-VCAL’s budget priorities.
• 3/4—Participated in the biweekly AHCA/NCAL call for state affiliate staff.
• 3/5-7—54 attended the first three sessions of the Addressing Mental Illness Behavioral Health Webinar Series.
• 3/6—Hosted emergency preparedness functional exercises with Incident Management Systems.
• 3/6—Met with CMS Region III officials for the quarterly meeting with LTC stakeholders.
• 3/7—Attended an AHCA meeting for state executives on PDPM issues.
• 3/7—Met with DMAS to discuss rebasing issues.
