In the latest edition of Provider Magazine AHCA’s associate vice president, therapy advocacy Dan Ciolek explains that “providers that do not rely on dusty obsolete versions of the MDS-RAI manual and are diligent in keeping MDS coders and clinical staff up to date with these important changes will be better prepared for finding the right road to success under both the PDPM and SNF QRP programs.” In the article Ciolek provides advice on steps providers should take to be ready for the October 1 implementation of the new Patient Drive Payment Model—including tossing any old MDS-RAI manuals you may still have.

Providers can download and print the most recent version of the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual (currently v1.17 October 2019). Note that CMS has indicated this manual may be updated again prior to October.
