VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 25.  

• 7/27—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly legislative update call for state affiliate staff.
• 7/27—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s weekly conference call for state affiliate staff on COVID-19.
• 7/28—Participated in a conference call with the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA), LeadingAge Virginia, and the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) on COVID-19 coordination between long term care facilities and health systems.
• 7/28—Participated in the biweekly LTC Facilities Provider Coordination call led by VDH.
• 7/29—Met with Del. Mark Sickles (D-Fairfax) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s priorities for the upcoming General Assembly special session.
• 7/30—Participated in the Virginia COVID-19 Testing Advisory Council meeting.
• 7/29—Met with Dels. Vivian Watts (D-Annandale) and Paul Krizek (D-Alexandria) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s priorities for the upcoming General Assembly special session.

• 7/30—Met with Desl. Dawn Adams (D-Richmond) and Cliff Hayes (D-Chesapeake) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s priorities for the upcoming General Assembly special session.
