VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of October 8, 2018.  

• 10/8-10—Keith Hare and April Payne attended the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention & Expo in San Diego.
• 10/9—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Anthem and Virginia Premier.
• 10/9—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Aetna Magellan and United.
• 10/11—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus nursing facility claims processing calls with Aetna and Optima.
• 10/11—Participated in the Geriatric Mental Health Partnership’s Psychotropic Medication Reduction Workgroup conference call.
• 10/11—Participated in the Virginia Nurses Association’s Access to Mental Health workgroup call.
