Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of September 18, 2023.  

• 9/18—Held a monthly meeting with DMAS leaders to discuss issues affecting nursing facilities.
• 9/18—Participated in a DSS stakeholder meeting to discuss draft licensure and enforcement guidelines.
• 9/20—Participated in an event hosted by the Office of the Attorney General on fighting elder abuse in Virginia.
• 9/20—Participated in the AHCA/NCAL Leadership Identification and Development Committee.
• 9/20—Hosted the final webinar in the Emergency Preparedness and Response Webinar Series on flooding.
• 9/21—Met with the Department of Health Professions to discuss the use of medication aides in long term care settings.
