DSS Announces Communication Channel and Training Sessions for New ALF Regulations

Providers are encouraged to send their questions on the new assisted living facility (ALF) regulations that take effect on February 1, 2018 to a new email address established by the Department of Social Services (DSS).  The agency is also planning a series of training sessions for November and December in each region on the new regulations.

You can send your questions on the new regulations to ALFREGS@dss.virginia.gov.  Please note, this email address will only remain active until July 1, 2018.

According to a memorandum to ALF providers from Tara Davis-Ragland, DSS Director of the Division of Licensing – Adult Programs, “Although we may not be responding to the questions that you send via email, we will either address them within the content of our presentations or through a Question & Answer document at some point following the completion of all trainings.”

Be on the lookout for flyers regarding upcoming training sessions in your region on the new regulations.

The training sessions on the new regulations for each region are as follows:

  • Piedmont: November 28 – 29
  • Western: November 30
  • Eastern/Peninsula: December 5 – 6
  • Fairfax: December 11 – 12
  • Valley: December 13
  • Northern: December 14 – 15
  • Central: December 12 – 14

Specific locations and times will be noted on the flyers.  According to the agency, if you have not received information by the end of October, please contact your inspector.
