Resources from DSS: New Regulation Training Materials
The Department of Social Services (DSS) has provided a series of resources as part of the training sessions licensing administrators conducted on the new regulations. The new regulations take effect on February 1, 2018; assessment for compliance will begin on April 1, 2018.

DSS expects to provide additional information in early 2018 related to the slides provided during the recent training sessions. We will relay that information to you as soon as it becomes available.
In addition, April Payne, the Director of VCAL, will be preparing an email series offering implementation tips for the new standards. The three-part series will kick-off in January and group the new standards into related categories.
- Personnel; staffing and supervision; and additional requirements for facilities that care for adults with serious cognitive impairments
- Admission, retention, and discharge of residents; resident care and related services; and resident accommodations and related services
- Building and grounds; and emergency preparedness
